Kamil Mruzek – member of Dulka Brandys nad Labem club, K1 – wildwater
Kamil Mruzek is our most successful Whitewater National Team member. He was born in 1977 and started his career in the club KK Opava like slalom and wildwater kayaker. He took a share in the Wildwater Junior European Championship 1995 in Spinderuv Mlyn and since then he has been doing exclusively whitewater paddling, where he has gained individual gold medal in European and World Championship. Add to that he gained 4 gold medals in team category (World Championship) and another 2 gold medals in the European Championships. He belongs to the top kayaker that was proved by winning the World Cup in years 2003, 2004, 2005. He gets regularly involved in many other outdoor activities for example: Dolomitenmann, Outdoor Trophy or Adrenalin Cup.
Michala Strnadova – Mruzkova – member of Dukla Praha club – wildwater K1, flatwater, rafting
Michala Mruzkova was born in 1979 under maiden name Strnadova. She is considered as the best wildwater kayaker, who was able to get into the absolute top on the flatwater as well. She got on the world scene as 15 years old at the Junior World Championship in USA. She has been the best junior wildwater kayaker since 1995. One year later she got into the Senior Nation Team. She gained her first gold medal when she was 21 years old. Since then (2000) she has never got known the bitterness of loosing her race. Except the wildwater paddling she is outstanding in other activities like a flatwater paddling. She participated at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens she gained a medal in an individual category in the European Championship 2005. Talking about flatwater paddling she started as a member of Dukla club and now she represents USK Praha club.
David Knebel – member of SK UP Olomouc club – K1 wildwater
David Knebel was born in 1980 and presently he is a member of SK UP Olomouc club. He has been a member of Senior Wildwater National Team since 2002, a category K1. He started his career in Ostrava, not only paddling on wildwater and also paddling on whitewater.
At the age of 15 he decided to focus on wildwater paddling only. He was a member of the Junior National Team in years 1997 and 1998. Promotion to the Senior Nation Team allowed him a new discipline Sprint in 2002. He became a Champion of the Czech Republic one year later. Since then, he has been a member of the Senior Nation Team. Besides that, he compete in marathon races for example: a Marathon de LÄrdéche, The Fish River Marthon in South Africa etc. or crazy things such a Non-Stop going the Vltava River (Lenora – Prague), a jump from the 10 meter high tower in his boat into the swimming pool. Like another paddlers he loves to participate in other extreme races (the hardest outdoor race in the Czech Republic – Adventure 2005).
Aleš Marek – member of Loko Trutnov - K1 wildwater
Ales Marek (born on January 8th 1978) got his degree at the University of Pardubice – Faculty of Economics and Administration and he has been a member of Wildwater Czech National Team – category kayak since 1997. His career started in a touring club in Trutnov. Since 1996 he has been training on 100% so he got into the junior national team and participated in the Junior Wildwater European Championship. All the time, except for one year he has been a member of a home club in Trutnov. He is a member of a successful kayak team that constantly gains medals in Wildwater European or World Championships. His biggest individual success was 3rd place in a Classic Race in the European Championship 2005 in Chalaux.
Besides, he pays attention to other extreme races such as a nonstop race Vltava Lenora – Prague – 339 km (2002) or a nonstop race in Moravia from Postřelmova do Devin, where the length is approximately 300 km (2002).
Rober Knebel – former member of wildwater national team CZ – K1
Robert Knebel
was born in 1971 and got his degree at the Palacký's University in Olomouc, the Faculty of Physical Education. He is a member of SK UP Olomouc club, married, a father of two daughters and a trainer of Wildwater National Team presently. He himself competed till 2004. His career started in NH Ostrava after that he became a member of a club in Olomouc. He was a member of Senior National Team since 1993 and end up as a top kayaker in year 1995. He was 3 times World Champion and won a silver medal on the World and the European Championship. After that he became a successful trainer for example of Tomas Slovak, Ales Marek, Karel Slepica or David Knebel.
Vaclav Chalupa was born in 1967 and he is one of out most successful rowers in whole history of rowing. He gained 15 titles Champion of the Czech Republic in a raw. He gained a silver medal on the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992), 4 silver medals from the World Championship (1989, 1990,1991, 1993) 3 bronze medals (1995, 1998, 2001). He won a World Cup in 1991, 1993, 1999 and 2000. He came back in 2001 and got another bronze medal. He finished 4th on the World Championship in 2003 that gave him the right to attend the Summer Olympic Games in Athens 2004, where he finished as 5th.
Odrej Raab started with kayaking in Zelezny Brod on the Jizera River, thanks to his parents and his older brother. Soon he got into the junior
national ream and he reached a silver medal in the Junior World Championship in 1990 in category 3xK1. He is a winner of the European Championship 2004 in Skopje and he finished 14th on his second Olympic Games in Athens. Ondrej Raab used his experiences from his racing career and now he is an owner of company producing racing paddles.
Jaroslav Pospisil is a very successful kayaker, who spends most of the time on the water with Jaroslav Pollert. Their
accomplishments are for example: a gold medal in the World Championship 1999 in Seu dÜrgell in category 3xC2 and the World Championship 2003 in Augsburg in the same category. Next to that he was a member of the team that won the Rafting World Championship 2003 in Lipno.
Stanislav Jezek is a double winner of the Czech Cup (1999, 2000) a multiple champion of the Czech Republic in slalom (2000, 2001,
2003, 2004) and a winner of the World cup in 1999.
This year he achieved 3rd place (C1) in an individual race and 2nd place in a team race in the World Championship in slalom in Prague.
Jan Masek is a valuable member of the Czech national team mainly in the category of team races. He gained together with other team
members a gold medal in the World Championship 2002 and a silver medal a year later in Augsburg. In addition to that he was also a member of a team in a category 3xC1 that was 2nd in the Slalom World Championship 2006 in Prague.
Martin Kolanda, Tomáš Ježek – K2 flatwater – maraton
These men belong to marathons that finish every long race kept on any type of water. As a proof is their 2nd place in an extreme race around a Portuguese island - Madeira. This race was (divided into 9 stages) made of 9 stages in 6 days – altogether 141 km on sea kayaks. They finished 6th in the Marathon Racing World Championships 2005 in Perth (Australia).
Stephan Stiefenhofer – ECST Raumheim
Stephan Stiefenhofer has been a member of German Wildwater National Team for many years (K1). He is a winner of a bronze medal in sprint C1 and a silver medal in classical race on the World Championship in Karlovy Vary 2006.
Max Hoff - ECST Raumheim
Max Hoff is a winner of sprint race K1 on World Championship in Karlovy Vary in 2006. Only Kamil Mruzek was faster than he in a classical race.
Those German paddlers take part in many European races together in category K2. They were very successful at Fish River Canoe Marathon in South Africa. They won marathon in l’Ardeche 2005, Internation Cesky Krumlov River Marathon 2006 and day after marathon in Verona, Italy!!
